I know this is just a temporary sash, but the Miss Universe Organization should fire those who were responsible for the misspelled "Miss PHILLIPPINES" sash that our candidate had no choice but to wear.

Jennifer Barrientos: Off to Miss Universe in Vietnam

The Philippines' bet to Miss Universe 2008, Jennifer Barrientos is ready to compete in Vietnam. Jennifer is beautiful, yes, pretty, yes, but not Miss Universe pretty or beautiful. She doesn't have the looks that the Miss Universe Organization is looking for.

Big, round face and fat looking (as per international pageant standards) Miss Philippines definitely has no chance at the Miss Universe pageant this year, based from her looks. She may give the best answers in her interview, but that's not enough. If Pinoys will be voting for her online for the Miss Photogenic award, she might bring home a trophy, but it would be a miracle if she'll make the cut. Let's accept the fact that she might be just another "thank you girl" and "clapper". Good luck to her though!

Janina San Miguel on the other hand continues to glow and getting better everyday. I hated this girl when she was crowned. I thought the result was crazy. A girl who cannot answer a very simple question is not deserving of a crown. But Janina might pull a surprise at Miss World. Remember, Miss World is like a personality contest. Interview is not very important (remember Korea in 2005? She did not give an answer and yet she won over world favorite Carlene Aguilar for Miss Asia). So Janina's beauty and humble personality could win her a place in the semis or who knows, she may be able to bring home our first ever Miss World crown.

Do you ever wonder why the Asia's Nightingale, Asia's queen of soul, Asia's queen of this and that are all Filipinas?

If I go to Bhutan and ask them if they know who is Asia's song bird, are they gonna tell me it's Regine? Do they even know who Regine Velasquez is?

When someone with a Filipino blood wins in any international competition, mapapabalita na yan sa TV. Kahit mukhang Pinoy lang at wala naman talagang Pinoy blood at nakapasok halimbawa sa American Idol, pilit ng hinahanapan ng Pinoy connection. Bakit nga ba?

Maganda at deserving ang mga pinapadala natin sa Miss Universe in the past four years, pero dahil sa pagkasabik ng mga Pinoy na manalo ang manok natin, buong Barangay sa Pilipinas pinaboto for Miss Votogenic si Pinay candidate. Ayan tuloy, imbes na makapasok sa Semis, hangang Miss Photogenic na lang ang konsolasiyon ng mga thank you girls naten.

Nung matalo si Onyok sa boxing back in the 90's halos magprotesta ang mga Pinoy.

Nung may mabanggit na hindi maganda tungkol sa Pilipinas sa Desperate Housewives, nagprotesta nga ang mga Pinoy.

Nagprotesta din kaya ang mga taga-Panama sa hindi magandang imahe ng kanilang bansa na ipinakita sa Prison Break season 3?

Nung mag-guest si Charice sa Ellen DeGeneres show at sa isang UK show, proud na proud siyempre ang mag Pinoy. Nung makapasok sa American Idol sa Jasmine at Ramiele, todo pindot na naman sa phone ang mga kababayan naten sa tate. Kapag may na-cast na Pinoy sa isang Hollywood movie, sikat sila agad sa mga Pinoy at pilit silang hahanapan ng dialogue na "I'm proud to be a Filipino." Ayan narinig natin yan kay Batista di ba?

Reality is, kung kasikatan din lang ang labanan, talo tayo ng ating mga Asian neighbors. Ang HK may Jackie Chan. Ang China May Jet Li, Yao Ming, kaliwat-kanang Chinese movies na narerelease sa Hollywood, at dun ang 2008 Olympics.

Andun sa Brunei ang one of the richest man in the world.

Ang India may Bollywood, not to mention their stunning beauty queens winning over our Philippine bets in the past decades. Ang Thailand, sikat sa kanilang mga beaches, at ayan nga, dun sa Bangkok nagshoot ng movie si Nicolas Cage, may movie din dun si Leonardo de Caprio back in 1999.

Singapore? The cleanest country in the world. Vietnam? Sino ba hindi nakakakilala sa mga Vietkong? At dun gaganapin ang Miss Universe 2008!

Japan? Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Yakuza, Atomic bomb, economy, technology, aminin na natin, hindi natin sila mapapantayan!

Korea? Andyan ang Samsung at sinasamba natin ang mga Telenobela nila at ngayun ay ginagaya na.

Indonesia? Hawak nila ang titulo ng may pinakamaraming isla sa na matatagpuan sa isang bansa. Malaysia, dun matatagpuan ang tallest building in the world. At ang economy nila, milya-milya na ang agwat sa Pinas.

Klangan pa ba banggitin ang Middle East? Iraq, Kuwait, Dubai? Isama na rin ang Russia at Turkey?

Madami pang kakaining bigas ang Pilipinas. Bigas na ngayun ay kulang na kulang tayo. Hmph!
